We’ve
Been Adopted!
These poor guys were referred to as the
"ditch" dogs, because, sadly, that is where someone dumped
them! They were picked up by the rescue at the beginning of June.
They were thought to be 5 month old lab mixes. Tentative at first, these
little guys were soooo sweet and starving for love. Although they take
awhile to warm up, which is understandable, they are big time lovers.
These guys just love kids. We have fostered 4 of the 5 that were dumped.
They are obviously a bit behind on training, but they are eager to please and
ready for puppy classes. We think they will catch on really quick and be
caught up. They love other dogs and do fine around cats.
Collin,
now Murphy, is one very lucky dog! Not only did he get a very loving home,
but there are lots of opportunities to play with other dogs in the neighborhood,
and he finally got his way with a kennel relocation to the bedroom. The whole
family is sleeping better now. He already has lots of doggie toys from Bark's,
maybe this will cure his penchant for stuffed animals. Best of all he gets
to go to Colorado on vacation this month with his new family....we should
all be so lucky. Lots of woods, hiking, and frolicking. I can't wait to hear
the stories when he returns. I love it when our foster puppies get an especially
fulfilling life and these poor puppies deserved it. Every single one in this
dumped litter was sweet and just starving for love. I think he is finally
full. THIS is why we foster.
Brendon
was adopted by one of our own store staff and is doing great. They are
working on house training which is going very well. After one week-end,
he is going on two days accident free. He is doing fine with the house
cats and respects their space. This lucky guy has two of his own
"kids" who are working on training him heel right now.
Nate
was adopted by a Plainwell family who own a hardware store, so he gets to
go to
work and be around people all day which he loves. He has a 4 legged sister
and three children to play with and a big fenced in yard to romp in...now how
much better does it get! He has adjusted fine. We are so happy
he found such a wonderful home.
Zac
and Kim, his new owner, must have been meant to be. She was thinking
about adopting Collin, but in the meantime he found a forever home and
wasn't at
the adoption event the next day. Zac, his brother, thought he had a forever
home, but things didn't work out....not because he wasn't a good dog.
The elderly couple who first took him underestimated the requirements of
a 6
month old puppy and felt maybe a different home would be better, so he
was at the adoption event the next day. The two met and everyone
went
home happy. His new mommie likes to jog and spend time outdoors so he
should get plenty of quality time when she is not working on her residency.
Oh,
and there is a certain lab in Grand Rapids we think he will get to visit
with a lot.....maybe a future sibling? Can't wait to check up on him
in a couple of weeks.
